ABOUT ME

Headshot Aldworth Sara.jpg

Hi there, thanks for visiting my site!

For the past 20+ years, I’ve been helping organizations brand, message, and market themselves to their target audiences.

I’m passionate about communications because I believe that no matter what you do, how you do it, and who you do it for, the reason you do it is the story that needs to be told. It’s that “why” (yes, go check out Simon Sinek, I’ll wait) that inspires people to take action -- whether you’re selling house paint or raising funds for underserved communities.

Since I began my career, I’ve done everything from stuffing direct mail pieces to writing video scripts to programming drip campaigns. I’ve interviewed migrant workers and brainstormed with CEOs. I’ve worked with faith-based non-profits, academic think tanks, higher education, healthcare, financial services, professional consulting firms, and even some consumer brands to boot. I’m as comfortable writing a strategic plan as I am with an Allen wrench and the pieces of a trade show exhibit. (You can download my resume to see all the details.)

I like interesting projects. I like interesting people. If you think we can work together, let’s find out -- drop me a note.

Clifton Strengths is an assessment that helps you understand what you naturally do best.

According to their site, "This is your talent DNA. It explains the unique ways you accomplish your goals by building relationships, thinking strategically, executing plans and influencing others."

My five strengths are:

  • Context

    • People exceptionally talented in the Context theme enjoy thinking about the past. They understand the present by researching its history.

  • Responsibility

    • People exceptionally talented in the Responsibility theme take psychological ownership of what they say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty.

  • Harmony

    • People exceptionally talented in the Harmony theme look for consensus. They don’t enjoy conflict; rather, they seek areas of agreement.

  • Input

    • People exceptionally talented in the Input theme have a need to collect and archive. They may accumulate information, ideas, artifacts or even relationships.

  • Intellection

    • People exceptionally talented in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

The DiSC model is another assessment that helps people understand their workplace priorities and preferences. I took this assessment while working for one of my former employers. Not only did I appreciate learning a bit more about myself, I also liked learning more about my colleagues and their priorities and preferences.

The consultant who administered the assessment and ran our team building retreat emphasized that the DiSC was not meant to be used as a label to slap onto yourself and other people. As he put it, "Your work style is also influenced by other factors such as life experiences, education, and maturity." â€‹Additionally, everyone is a blend of all four styles, but most people tend strongly toward one or two styles.

My DiSC "dot" placement puts me in the CS style, which unsurprisingly dovetails nicely with my Clifton Strengths. The "C" is for "Conscientiousness" and the "S" is for "Steadiness." That means if you work with me, you might notice:

  • Precision

  • Patience

  • Analysis

  • Collaborative work style

  • Quiet/reserved

  • Calm approach

  • Good listener

  • Humility
